University of Maryland Alumni Association | Stay Fearless
University of Maryland Black Alumni Network

Date: Friday, October 16

Time: 4:00 pm

Together We Stand

The purpose of this gathering is to provide African American/Black students with a structured, culturally responsive, and affirming space to process the recent racial incident and its impact on their sense of safety, belonging, identity, and well-being.

What distinguishes this gathering from social media, informal conversations, or existing campus resources is the opportunity for students to engage in facilitated, in-person dialogue with African American/Black alumni and mental health professionals who can provide both lived experience and professional expertise. Rather than simply providing a space to express frustration or react to the incident, the gathering is designed to help students make meaning of their experiences, identify healthy ways to process their emotions, and consider constructive pathways forward.
